Since warm climates tend to be more permissive for inbound diasporas Kaya Tours Ghana ltd ,the leading travel and tourism provider in Ghana for Africa this year lined up a three prone agenda to make ghana the most preferred destination for tourists across the globe and as part of this put together a program to mark this year’s Easter celebration dubbed
“ Akosombo Easter Magical Trip”
With support from the Afrikiko River front Resort, The Intercity STC Coaches Limited and Okay 10.1.7fm. The three days two nights event took place on the 30th March to the 1st April 2018. Ghana’s tropical climate attracts mostly sun-seekers fleeing the harsh winter hence packaging destination Akosombo, a unique experience of both tangible and intangible manifestations of traditional practices, indigenous music , cuisine, handicrafts and village life.
The objective behind this thinking was to promote the Destination Akosombo an Eco friendly community which is about an hour and half drive from Accra the capital of Ghana.
The package included a safari game drive at Shai Hills game reserve which has over 506 Antelopes of different species , four different gangs of Monkeys and Baboons, different color species of Zebras , Ostriches , birds and butterflies.
Shai Hills has two types of Attractions, the Wildlife and and culture. Tourists embarked on an adventure to the Kloyem mountains and experienced the sacredness of the various caves and rocks. The hills also serves as a place for traditional Dipo puberty rites for the people of Krobo and the shai traditional area.
In all, Twenty Six (26 ) people from Ghana 🇬🇭The United Kingdom 🇬🇧, Jamaica 🇯🇲 and Spain 🇪🇸
participated in the journey.
The participants sampled traditional foods like Koko porridge, Kenkey and fried fish , Ampesi and palava sauce at Afrikiko Resort located on the banks of the Volta River. The resort pride itself with its unique three wing setup that includes chalets with individual balconies facing the river, the courtyard rooms and the poolside rooms built in exotic tropical gardens. Participants were welcomed with coconut each to quench their thirst and a traditional troupe displayed some traditional dance and costumes.
The second day came with its own package as the organizers took the participants entourage to the Akosombo Marine Club via the Akosombo Dam site where the tourists engaged in water sports including jet ski, kayak, and Boat cruise. The Nightlife activities were amongst the highlights of the trip; with the street dance battle at the Atimpoku township giving the tourists a remarkable night life experience, live band music session on Saturday night at Volta Hotel saw the Combo Band thrilling guests to organic highlife music. The tourists experienced at first hand the hospitality of the people of Akosombo.
The team made a stopover at the Odumasi Krobo to learn about the life and culture of the people of Krobo. They visited the Cedi Bead Industries and were taken through various processes of bead making and the significance of beads and experienced at first hand the different types of beads. Numoda Cedi, Owner and CEO of Cedi Beads Industries gave a lecture and demonstrated his capacity and share some of his success stories.
The Elders of Odumasi Krobo also demonstrated the Dipo rites of passage with great display of culture and tradition
Akosombo Magical Trip was a great package and promised to be loaded as well.
