The Chief Executive Officer of Coastal Development Authority (CODA), Mr. Jerry Ahmed Shaib is on a Two-Day tour in the Volta/Oti Region of Ghana, to have some engagements with MMDCEs, as part of CODA’s stakeholder engagement with key relevant stakeholders.
The event on the first day featured a number of issues with the pivots being projects of Infrastructure For Poverty Eradication Programme, IPEP and an Outlook for 2022 and beyond.
IPEP also known as One Million Dollars Per Constituency is a flagship programme of the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The President promised to make an allocation of One Million Dollars or its Cedi equivalent to each constituency annually to give aid to special projects, that are determined based on needs assessment.
According to the CEO of CODA, they have adopted strategies to promote beach development and green investment.
“What we intend to do is to improve soil base management and general environmental conditions at the beaches and we intend to promote green investment. We also intend to facilitate or promote job and income generating opportunities from plastic waste management in the Coastal areas.”
Mr. Jerry Ahmed further highlighted on how CODA want to contribute to the promotion of Sports development.
“We also intend to promote sports development and enhance the quality of Social life of people in the beach communities through provision of Sports Facilities. What we intend to do as CODA is to have four stadia along our zone, our first interest is in Keta where we have beautiful white sand. When we have our beach stadia, we can get a lot from it.”
According to him, Beach soccer will bring up good things to the country and thus, CODA is ready to help promote its development.
