Patrons at the 2019 Easter Comedy Show were thrilled last Saturday at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC). Comedians, assembled from Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa got the over 1,500 audience in a packed AICC agog as they gleamed adroitly on stage with their jokes.
Anchoring and mastering the ceremony was Ghana’s own satirical optometrist, OB Amponsah. I must say OB is such a good show host and he comes with that added impetus of comedy.
In fact his grand coming unto the stage wouldn’t have been any better than what he did, being carried as a dead body, he was resurrected by “Pastor” Lekzy Decomic and he rose up clad in an all white African wear and this stage craft fitted perfectly the bill of an easter-themed event as the Easter Comedy Show 2019.
OB always had a way of making the audience laugh out loud whenever he mounted the stage to deliver his MC duties. People like journalists, musicians, Ashantis, head-endowed people, just to name a few bore the full brunt of his jokes. It was a good use of his comic brain and the effortlessness and the zest with which he performed could easily explain the reason why he is a medical practitioner.
If Ghana Comedy is on its feet once again then it owes much to the talents and efforts of guys like OB Amponsah so the next time you’re looking for an MC for your event, look no further than, Dr. OB Amponsah, the comic MC.
