King Promise: The Gem Of The Ghanaian Music Industry

King Promise: The Gem Of The Ghanaian Music Industry

When you hear songs like “Oh Yeah”,“Selfish” and “CCTV” one artiste comes to mind; King Promise. Born Gregory Bortey Newman, King Promise has established his name as one of Ghana’s foremen when it comes to the Genre Afrobeats.

After the just ended VGMAs where he wasn’t awarded anything even though both of singles did so well didn’t stop him in achieving what he set out to achieve when he started music. The young talented musician has a very unique way of singing which distinguishes him from his peers. His style is top notch and I could say one of the few artiste we have in Ghana whose “vibe” is infectious.

Ever since he came on the scene, King Promise has landed  his voice to many songs. Songs such as Me ne Woa, My Girl, Double Trouble in their own rights are very good songs but with King Promise on it, each verse and line was golden, he brought a certain life to each of those songs with amazing hooks and bridges that has made them personal favourites of many people in the country. He recently featured on Sarkodie’s single Can’t let you go, which is enjoying massive airplay nationwide.

Many felt the snub at the VGMAs would cause a derailment in the career of the singer. He has however proven all those who doubted him wrong by releasing in succession two inarguably hit singles; CCTV and Abena. Both of the singles are doing well in Ghana and beyond.

His hard work is constantly rewarded with amazing tunes and collaborations. I believe in Talent and Hard work because each may seem different of each other but they work hand in hand. King Promise is an artiste that fuses the both of them and the result is all we are witnessing. I’d call him the Gem of the Ghanaian Music Industry. I would urge us all not to sleep on him for he may be the one to bring home a Grammy for Ghana.

His USA Tour kicks off in October!!
