It has become more or less like a norm in the Ghana Music industry that almost every year new artises emerge but after two or three years, they fade away. If they don’t fade away completely, they become less vibrant as they used to be.
Fast rising Ghanaian musician, Daud Agyeman known on stage as DAUD has said that, the problem is as a result of record labels or individual artise managers who are only interested in making quick money instead of putting in much work to build the artise to become a long-term marketable asset.
DAUD speaking to Kobbykyeinews.com earlier this morning said that, most musicians outside Ghanaian are able to put out masterpieces, remain relevant and penetrate into the international market because their management team spend time and enough resources to really develop them as artises who ready to face the ups and downs in the music market.
He said in the case of Ghana, only few out of the hundreds of artises have been able to change the status quo, the likes of Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Sarkodie, Samini etc who have been able to stay relevant for some years now because they have invested in themselves and have the ability of foreseeing what the future holds.
In Ghana as it is in every industry in the world, have lots of great young talents emerge every year but after few years the go down the drain because their labels do not spend resources in building and projecting them to the rest of the world.
DAUD cited two young but very vibrant Nigerian artises, thus Wizkid and Burna Boy as example. These are great musicians whose managements have really invested in them and the outcome is an open secret.
He further talked about why he thinks these young musicians releases albums and EP’s but hardly do well as compared to their competitors.
DAUD revealed that most of the greatest albums on the music market were strategically and well prepared albums which Communicates special message to the audience but in the case of Ghana, because most labels and artises managers facus more on getting quick money, less attention is always given to what goes into the album.
