Abelefest is a word coined out of the root word abele which means corn in Ga, a native language from the country Ghana. It is a festival intended to celebrate unity and culture through music and arts.
The Ga-Adangbe community has been in the limelight for it exhibition of rich culture and history in recent times and Milla Lamptey popularly known in showbiz circles as Gasmila seeks to cement that acumen by the introduction of Abelefest.
The international fisherman seeks to bring together patrons to enjoy delicacies and how they are prepared alongside an explosive and exciting musical concert which will bring together most of the big names in the Ghanaian entertainment space on stage.
The event which is slated to come off on the 8th of October, 22 will shine it spot lights on Maize(Abele) which signifies the end of hunger for the Ga tribe.
Maize serves as the base ingredient for most Ghanaian foods from main dishes to deserts, from banku, kenkey right down to iced kenkey which is used as beverage to wash down heavy meals.
Abelefest is set to bring together core Gasmila fans, project and promote authentic Ghanaian sounds, celebrate role models from the ga communities, set a tone for family bonding, educate and orient the world about music,tradition,dance,food,fashion and create a problem solving environment to create jobs, boost tourism and the economy at large.
The program is scheduled to last from 6am to 12am midnight and has been segmented into the following:
– Preparation of the kpokpoi meal,
– Fashion and food fair,
– Networking and socialization,
– Gasmila music concert
Venue for the show is the Alliance Francaise, hosted by Bukom Banku, rate is a cool 100 cedis.
