It’s an undeniable fact Ghana got the attention of world over the weekend. Brilliant event by Global Citizen. Big congratulations to every team member for putting this together – from organizers, partners, sponsors, crew, etc.
To all the performers as well, you guys nailed it. From Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Gyakie, Stormzy (with that collaborative performance with Yaw Tog & Kwesi Arthur), Tems, SZA and Usher. Awesome musical performances and brilliant stage display.
Also, this is a wake-up call for the Government with regards to our creative arts ecosystem. The creative arts industry can yield billions of cedis. Proper and dedicated investment needs to be done.
Let’s practically support our own as we preach. The right investments fused with the appropriate structures and policies will definitely not bring billions only, but it will highlight the many talents we have in Ghana.
I was happy to see President Akufo-Addo together with his wife and other government officials at the festival. The President evidently saw the investment that went into the production of the Festival and the spotlight it gave Ghana. I was equally happy to see Hon. Mark Okraku-Mantey – Deputy Minister, Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts at the festival.
The Government along with all key stakeholders, partners, investors and every influential party should be pay attention to our creative arts industry. They should assist and encourage local event houses and organizers who put up similar activities. We can do it.
Doing this will boost the confidence level of our talents – from musicians, dancers, directors, choreographers, instrumentalists, DJs, etc.
Global Citizen Festival Accra didn’t only provide opportunities for our music talents. It offered a lot of opportunities to our dancers, script writers, visual artists, journalists, set designers, cameramen, directors, carpenters, painters, electricians, etc.
This is not the time to troll. Collectively, let’s push and support our creative arts ecosystem with the right energy and resources.
Again, big congratulations to Global Citizen for bringing this to Ghana.
