MTN Ghana as part of the initiative to empower the creative industry on Monday, 3rd September started the four day workshop for industry people to address topics such as digital journalism, intellectual property rights and basics in film making.
The event which is being help at the MTN House in Ridge, Accra is currently in its 3rd day and has seen an overwhelming participation from industry players who matter, people from academia, relevant media houses and expects who have taken their turns to share experiences and enlighten the gathering on the selected topics.
Day one, which was dedicated to digital journalism saw Maximus Ametorgoh, the Digital Lead and CEO of Popout Ghana give a sterling presentation on efficient ways of refining and enhancing digital journalism. This was followed by a panel discussion which gave participants the opening to ask questions and get understanding into the world of digital journalism and on how to monetize their editorial content.
Thematic areas on rights, who is eligible to claim ownership, how to secure or protect your intellectual property rights, how to guard against theft and undue usage and how to seek remedy when infringed upon as well as the various rights were touched on; patents, copyrights, economic and moral rights of owners of materials, products and ideas among others.
Notable faces that were a part of the discussion on day two includes Ola Michael, a filmmaker and Akorfa Edjeani an actress and a filmmaker.
The participants, after the presentation and panel discussion were divided into two groups and were given three scenario’s to examine after which group members presented their findings and solutions to the gathering amidst scrutiny from both groups and the fun of learning something new.
The Wednesday edition of the MTN Open Coffee continues, with the MTN Shortz workshop which will see discussions on the topic “basics of film making” at exactly 8 am today at the MTN House in Ridge, Accra. Speakers are Ivan Quashigah – Filmmaker, Producer, Director and CEO of Farmhouse Productions (The name behind popular youthful TV Series Yolo) and Yao Ladzekpo – Cinematographer and a Director.
