The attention of the Management of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital has been drawn to a video on social media indicating lack of sitting places for clients and their relatives at the Hospital and also preventing Patients’ relatives from sitting on a pavement provided for at the breeze way.
Management would like to state that the particular pavement shown in the video with relatives and visitors standing by is not a sitting area. The pavement is actually part of the design of the new building and it is at the main entrance to the building.
In May 2017 when the Hospital moved into the building and started operation, relatives and visitors started sitting on that pavement during normal and odd hours. Some of the visitors were even started sleeping on the pavements showing part of their bodies. Others also sat there in the night to smoke cirgarates and did all kinds of unholy activities. The whole area was a nuisance.
Management, in a bid to curb this nuisance, created a proper sitting places with comfortable chairs and fans for relatives and visitors to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Please find attached the picture of the place)
The video on social media also showed an area with chairs as patients sitting place, which the management has prevented clients and their relatives to sit. We wish to state that the area is not a sitting place for patients and their relatives. It is rather a meeting room for Hospital activities and other events.
It has also come to our notice that most relatives interfere at the wards and clinical areas when doctors and nurses are reviewing patients which distructs work. We therefore wants to inform our cherished clients of our visiting hours which is 6 to 7 oclock in the morning and 5‐6 oclock in the evening.
