SIDE EFFECTS OF RELATIONSHIPS Written by Counselor Adofoli

I am still battling to read all my new year’s messages, its overwhelming. It is not just about ushering into a new year but it is about telling someone that when you have life, you have everything and good health is the greatest gift.

But not everyone knows this, so just after a few weeks into the new year, we are back to our old lifestyles, attitudes and behaviours. Others treat all kinds of relationship anyhow.

Relationships are important in every aspect of our lives, they are great connectors and guides but what makes relationship best is faithfulness.

Poisonous relationships have an influence over you, they change your perception, lead you to sin and wrong paths in life.

It makes you spend many years thinking you are worthless but the truth is, you are not worthless but rather unappreciated.

Even Jesus Christ frowned upon bad relationships; In Matthew 5:30 (CEV); Jesus said “If your right hand causes you to sin, chop it off and throw it away! It is better to lose one part of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell”.

The sad part is people will notice the change in your attitude towards them, but won’t notice their behaviour which made you change.

Stop holding onto people who keep letting go of you. Pay attention to the faithful people, the ones you don’t have to impress, the ones who always have your back, the ones who love you with no strings attached.

This life is full of side effects; people build big houses but have a small family, earn more degrees but have less common sense and we have advanced medicine but poor health.

We strive to touch the moon yet we have neighbours we don’t care to know, we earn a high income yet we have less peace of mind. We have High IQ but less emotion, Good knowledge yet less wisdom.

We have a number of affairs with no true love, a lot of friends on Facebook but no best friends.

There is more alcohol produced daily yet we have less water, a lot of humans but less humanity. We wear costly watches yet we have no time for people.

Build someone up. Put their insecurities to sleep. Remind them they are worthy. Tell them they are magical. Be a light in a too often dark world.

Please share with your friends, someone out there needs this.
