Ghanaian singer and record producer, Kuami Eugene has been named winner for the 2020 Award for Entertainment at the just ended Africa Youth Awards (AYAs). Winners were announced yesterday Friday, January 1, 2021.
Africa Youth Awards (AYAs) was launched in 2014 by Ghanaian PR and rating company Avance Media with the goal of celebrating outstanding young Africans contributing to the development of the continent across various disciplines.
The 2020 edition was held in partnership with Kenley College in the UK and winners were chosen after public votes.
The ‘Open Gate’ composer beat competition from colleague musicians including Joeboy (Nigeria), Nasty C (South Africa), Fireboy DML (Nigeria) and Sho Madjozi (South Africa).
Other winners from the awards include Eco-Pads Uganda founder Lucy Mary Athieno, biomedical engineer and design expert Habtamu Abafogi, and content creator Kwadwo Sheldon.
