Ghanaian music producer and musician, Danny Beatz has said that Ghanaian musicians including himself should try and embrace Highlife in their songs.
Danny Beatz who is known in real life as Daniel Owusu Agyapong stated this in an interview on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 with award-winning radio personality, Doreen Andoh of Joy Fm during her mid-morning radio show, Cosmopolitan Mix.
The “Kpalogo” singer in his interview expressed that Highlife is our genre and we must work hard to push it by adding it in our songs to keep it alive.
“I will say Highlife is our genre…that’s the genre Ghanaians we do and because we don’t add a little bit of Highlife in everything we do, I think we are kind of losing that feeling”.
“So, anything that we do, we can still put a little bit of Highlife in there to keep it alive. Because, no matter what, whether we like it or not, that’s our genre! If you want to describe Ghana, anywhere, like when you say Highlife, people understand where you are coming from”, he said.
Anyway, Danny Beatz is also credited with the production of some Ghanaian songs such as ‘Nkwadaa Nkwadaa’ by Guru, ‘Christy’ by Dobble and ‘Date Ur Fada’ by Ebony.
