Macalester College Honours M.anifest With ‘Distinguished Citizen Award’

Ghanaian rap artist, Kwame Ametepee Tsikata, popularly known as M.anifest, has been honoured by his alma mater, Macalester College, USA with a ‘Distinguished Citizen Award’.

The Distinguished Citizen Award recognizes alumni who have exercised leadership in civic, social, religious, and professional activities.

It is given because the Macalester community believes that a college education should be the training and inspiration for unselfish and effective service to the community, the nation, and the world. Recipients demonstrate a practical acceptance of these obligations in their lives and work.

According to M.anifest, the College placed a premium on genuine connections, that was very pivotal for deepening his relationships with people from different parts of the world.

Fostering a world with greater cooperation begins with that kind of micro level individual connection, he expressed.

The rapper migrated to the Twin Cities, USA in 2001 to attend Macalester College, where he graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.

The Alumni Awards are one way by which the Macalester community comes together to honour alumni who best exemplify the college’s values. The awards have been given annually to Macalester alumni since 1949 and the tradition continues today under the leadership of the Alumni Board Nominations Committee of the College.
