Health workers are at the front line of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and as such are exposed to hazards that put them at risk of infection, hence International Non-governmental Organization (NGO), Millennium Promise Alliance (MPA) has launched an excellent fundraising campaign for one million (1,000,000) personal protective equipments (PPE) for frontline health workers in Ghana.
MPA is commendably commencing this campaign in partnership with the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and other Health associations including Ghana Medical Association.
The campaign is an initiative by MPA with the goal to reduce COVID-19 related morbidity and mortality among front-line health workers.
The beautiful event happened Tuesday, September 22 at the Marriott Hotel – Accra with renowned broadcaster, Abeiku Santana, Singer Empress Gifty, Camidoh, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Mr Drew, Cwesi Oteng, Joe Mettle, Krymi, Lamisi and Ohemaa Mercy being ambassadors for the campaign.
The campaign seeks to raise 1.5 million Ghana cedis from diverse sources by September 2020. Likewise, the project seeks to supply PPEs to 1 million frontline health staff by December 2020.
Millennium Promise Alliance is an International NGO with a vision to eradicate extreme poverty, hunger, and preventable diseases especially in deprived communities.
The organization has operated in various countries including Ghana and believes in working with country systems and government agencies to empower the rural poor, promote rapid socio-economic development and accelerate the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Presently in Ghana, MPA provides technical support for school health screening, community health workers program, rural diagnostic laboratory services, personal protective equipment for front-line health workers among others.
