My Beef With Medikal Had Its Genesis From Sarkodie’s “Trumpet” Song

Somewhere 2019, the rap music scene flared up after Strongman and Medikal had a lyrical war in what came to be known as the Strongman-Medikal beef. It started with “To Whom It May Concern” from Medikal, Strongman replied with “Don’t Try”, Medikal retaliated with “Last Burial” and Strongman ended it with “Immortal”.

With people still confused as to what actually was the cause of this beef, former SarkCess Music signee Strongman has disclosed that his beef with Medikal had its roots from Sarkodie’s Trumpet record which featured both rappers.

Speaking to Andy Dosty on Hitz Fm, Strong Gee disclosed that he took offence in one of Medikal’s lines in his verse on “Trumpet” and that triggered what came to be one of the famous beefs of Ghanaian musical history.

According to him, Medikal in that line said, “Apart from him (Medikal), Teephlow and Pappy Kojo, the rest must try harder”, something that stayed with him and eventually blew up to be the Strongman-Medikal beef.

Strongman who was adjudged as the winner of the beef by netizens has gone on to quash the beef, performing at Medikals’s Sowutuom Concert and has also collaborated with him in his new single, “Bossu”.
