MY NEW EP WILL CHANGE THE STYLE OF AFROBEAT IN GHANA – SHUGALORD

 

On Saturday, August, 21 the 2021 edition of the Ghana Music Awards – USA was held in New Jersey to award musicians who are doing well on both the local and international scenes. This year’s edition was held with Diana Hamilton sweeping three awards, including the sought after Artist of the Year.

One category that introduces young artists every year is the Emerging Act of the Year category. The winner of this year’s category is Shugalord.

In an interview via phone with Kobby Kyei News, Shugalord expressed his appreciation for emerging as the winner of the category. The young act stated it is a big win for him to be awarded as it shows his works have been recognised and appreciated.

When he was asked the effect winning this award will have on his brand, he replied by saying it is just the beginning of the brand Shugalord and this recognition inches him closer to where he wants to see his brand as a musician on both local and international scene.

Speaking about his new project, he alluded to the fact that the award has come at the right time when he is preparing to release his new EP called African Sugar.

He added that the African Sugar EP will change the landscape of Afrobeat in Ghana.
According to him, it is a high time we took back the Afrobeat that we have left to the Nigerians. He believes the Afrobeat is a Ghanaian style of music therefore his new EP will bring back the sensation of the Ghanaian afrobeat.

He appreciates the organizers of GMA USA and all individuals who have been supporting his brand.
