Two of Ghana’s most exciting comedians, OB Amponsah and Heiress Jacinta have been selected to perform at the 2019 edition of Basketmouth’s annual comedy festival, “Lord of the Ribs” in Nigeria.
The event which is happening on the weekend of 28th and 29th September, 2019 will see the two share the stage with comedians from across Africa, England and the USA and this will be the first time Ghanaians are appearing on such a platform. They will be performing with the likes of Tony Roberts, Kojo Anim, Senator, and Mpho Popps of South Africa who performed at the Easter Comedy Show in April, hosted by OB Amponsah.
Speaking exclusively to Kobbykyeinews ahead of the event, comedienne, Heiress Jacinta disclosed that it’s a good, scary and a mixed feeling for her to be recognized and given such a big platform. She also stated that she has earned this platform based on merit and every dent of hard work she has put in her work.
On his part, OB Amponsah attributed this feat to God, hardwork and Nabil of Event Factory. He was happy that Ghanaian comedy is now getting international attention and urged that he and his colleagues continuously proved themselves so more doors would open for them. He promised to raise the flag of Ghana higher once he gets onto the stage.
Having been at the event last year, Event Factory lobbied for a slot for Ghana and this year we got the slot. It was difficult but they were able to show that Ghana has the talent and can be on that stage.
The whole Event Factory team are hoping the Ghana team delivers beyond measure so we can select a comedian every year to represent Ghana at the biggest comedy festival in Africa.
We wish OB and Jacinta well. We hope they’ll make Ghana comedy proud and we believe this will be the beginning of taking Ghana comedy to the world.
