The pillars, on which will stand Ghana’s “Beyond The Return” – a 10-year project has been launched.
The event came off on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at the National Theatre.
Speaking at the unveiling, the sector Minister, Hon. Barbara Oteng Gyasi stated that “Beyond The Return” will be a 10-year long celebration.
According to her, the initiative is to consolidate the gains made in 2019 during the “Year of Return”. The project will span from 2020-2030 under the theme, “A Decade of African Renaissance”.
The minister also explained that the project will help in the creation of a mutually beneficial corperation with the African Diasporan Community.
The seven (7) pillars, as launched by the Senior Minister, Hon. Yaw Osafo-Marfo is as follows:
This pillar will facilitate creating memorable experiences through Sankofa and healing journeys, events, entertainment and other recreational activities.
Invest in Ghana
Invest in Ghana will facilitate special investments programs such as Sankofa Savings account. It will also identify land investment opportunities for diasporans.
Diaspora pathway to Ghana
This pillar will see to the adoption of legal and policy frameworks on visa acquisition (e-visa) and the institution of diaspora visa.
Celebrate Ghana will create a sense of national consciousness anchored on key cultural festivals, media programs and promotion of domestic tourism.
This pillar will create marketing campaigns to promote Ghana as a hub for the African Renaissance and craft a new international narrative on Ghana.
Give back Ghana
Likewise, this pillar will foster a new sense of community service and giving.
Promote Pan African heritage and innovation
This pillar will focus on promoting Pan-Africanism and Ghanaian heritage. Also, it will develop pilgrimage tourism infrastructure around sites of memory.
