The Ghanaian music industry is blessed with a lot of talents such that it might take something special for one to be active and stay relevant for a decade especially in these times where new talents keep gate crushing the doors of stardom.
But is for a fact that one person that has defied the odds and dominated the music space for the past decade is Mr. Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie. Since his breakout year in 2009, Sarkodie has surely and steadily rose up to be one of Ghana’s finest, and Africa’s most decorated artiste. Being the most awarded artiste at the VGMAs and Ghana’s first BET winner, “King Sark’s” decade old relevance and consistency saw him being crowned the VGMA artiste of the decade last Saturday at the 20th edition of the VGMAs.
This has seen a lot of people trying to find out what has kept Sarkodie going in all these years. Whereas some people say it is by every dent of hard work, others believe it is his alleged association with the “Illuminati” cult that has brought him thus far. However according to Sarkodie himself, all these achievements is down to God and his passion for music. He revealed that he has no strategy or plan to stay relevant but it is God, his hard work and the passion he has had throughout his career that has kept him up until now. King Sark was speaking on Showbiz A-Z with George Quaye on Joy FM which airs every Saturday at 2pm.
