It is every artiste’s dream to be rewarded and awarded for the hard work they put in to churn out good music year in year out. Aside the prestige, it adds credibility and opens bigger doors in the musical world as well as cementing one’s status as the undisputed Champion. The 6th edition of arguably Africa’s biggest and most prestigious musical awards, All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) was formally unveiled in an event at the African Union Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Monday, May 13, 2019.
At the unveiling, it was announced via a press release signed by the Acting Director, Social Affairs Department, African Union Commission, Mr. Machacha Shepande that the first activity on the continental awards calendar is the submission of entries and this opens globally on www.afrima.org to African music professionals either living on the continent or in the diaspora from Wednesday, May 15 and closes on Friday, August 2, 2019.
With the Ghanaian Ministry of Tourism and creative arts having signed a three year contract with the AFRIMAs last year, the 2019 edition is likely to be held here in Ghana.
