The show you shouldn’t have missed, Easter Comedy Show 2019 as it happened

After a long wait following weeks of publicity and promotion of event factory’s Easter Comedy Show, it finally took place last Saturday, 20th April, 2019 at the Accra International Conference Centre and I must say what a show it was. Comedy, sandwiched with music, interspersed with unstoppable laughter as well as surprise giveaways to some deserving patrons is the most perfect picture my writing canvas can paint to you.

With the stage finally set and audience well seated, the event opened with a musical performance from the PatchBay band who set the tone for the night with a rendition of Papa Yankson and Paulina Oduro’s evergreen “tsena menkyen” record and other contemporary hits like Joromi from Simi and Too Late by Adina.

Then came the grand entry of MC for the night, Dr. OB Amponsah, the optometrist turned comedian and he set the comic ball rolling with some scintillating jokes that couldn’t stop the audience from laughing their hearts out. And from then on, it was all laughter as comedian after comedian barraged the expectant audience with series of rib cracking jokes. It was never a night of disappointment and a true worth of money as these wonderful cast of comedians fully served us the full doses of the comedy prescriptions we had been given. Indeed people laughed their sorrows and troubles away.

And what of the music? OMG!! Both Kidi and Akwaboah sent the crowd in frenzy as they treated them to authentic Ghanaian high life music with able support from the PatchBay band and Saxophonist, Mr. Okyere had his A-game on as he dazzled with his saxophone version of Gasmila’s Telemo and late Ebony’s Hustle. Among the numerous celebraties that were present were TV personality Nana Aba Anamoah, Serwaa Amihere, actress Ama K. Abebresse, Eliken de Tailor, blogger George Britton and many others.

All in all, it was an amazing night and we can firmly conclude that there is a big future for the comedy industry in Ghana. Kudos to Nabil Alhassan (CEO of Event factory), the event factory team and their sponsors for pulling this big one off. It was indeed an event of true comic relief and an ecstatic hilarious experience. As you plan your Easter come next year, just know that no matter how fun you claim Kwahu is, The Easter Comedy Show will expose you.
