US Ambassador Showers Praises on Producers of YOLO Series at Season 5 Premier.

The much awaited premiere of the fifth season of popular Ghanaian TV series “You Only Live Once” (YOLO) took place yesterday, 1st May, 2019 at the Silverbird cinemas, Westhills Mall in Weija, Accra. The series, which is part of the “Good Life, Live it Well” campaign since its inception in 2015 has sought to equip the everyday Ghanaian youth with knowledge in reproductive health and also acquaint them with skills to deal with the challenges confronting them as young people.

Speaking at the premier, US Ambassador to Ghana, Stephanie S. Sullivan was effusive about the impact the series is making and commended the Ghana Health Service together with the National Population Council for teaming up with the USAID to help breach the sexual and reproductive education information gap. “Ranked one of the most influential TV programs in Ghana, this award winning show has not only provided a platform to reach young people with key information on healthy behaviours and practices but also helped to shape the actors to become reproductive health ambassadors”, she said in a speech.

The premier had in attendance popular casts from the previous seasons like Adjetey Annang (Pusher), Queenstar Anaafi (Emily), Chiiief (King George), Abrantie, and many others. However season 5 sees the introduction of new faces into the series with some of the old ones dropping out. The storyline of season 5 seeks to bring light on some happenings in school campuses such as Teachers dating students, peer pressure, and many others in our second cycle and tertiary schools. It was written by Selassie Yao and directed by Ivan Quashigah.
